Summary
The Acton Aqua Ducks Swim Club was started in 1987 by founder and former head coach Gerry Ockenden. Today, the Club has over 80 swimmers in all levels and is growing every year. Our coaches provide a full range of expertise and experience to ensure that our swimmers not only have the best opportunity to excel but have fun as well! The Ducks swim at the Acton Indoor Pool located in the MSB Middle School, 69 Acton Blvd., Acton. The Club’s programs follow the school year. Three sessions are offered each year. The Fall Session runs from early September to mid December. The Winter Session runs from January to March and the Spring Session runs from April to mid June. The Acton Aqua Ducks are a “Not for Profit” organization. Supported by a strong parent group, the Aqua Ducks rely on fundraising by members to ensure service can be offered at the best possible price. One of the main sources of revenue for the Aqua Ducks was income from the Milton Bingo Hall. With its closure, the Club was forced to find alternate sources to ensure its continued commitment to the community. A successful application to the Ontario Trillium Foundation has given the Club time to develop potential financial strategies, such as sponsorships and hosting swim meets, to enable it to continue to offer reasonably priced services to the community. An investment in the Aqua Ducks is an investment in our young people and our community. Sponsorship opportunities are available. As a businessperson, as an individual or as a community member you will have the satisfaction of knowing you have provided the opportunity for the young people of Acton to lead a healthy, active lifestyle. The Aqua Ducks want to ensure any support will be celebrated in our community. Depending on the level and type of support, recognition could be via the media, naming on uniforms or banners, or in the Aqua Ducks newsletter.
